Our batteries use a dual-protocol RJ45 port supporting both CAN (PIN4: CAN-H, PIN5: CAN-L) and RS485 (PIN1: RS485-B, PIN2: RS485-A), allowing compatibility with the widest range of high voltage and low voltage inverter brands. The BMS dynamically transmits battery state data — including SOC, voltage, temperature, and fault status — to the inverter for real-time charge/discharge control.
CAN Protocol: Recommended for High Voltage Inverter Pairing
CAN (Controller Area Network) communication is the recommended protocol for high voltage LiFePO4 battery systems paired with inverters such as Deye SUN series. The CAN port enables fast, bidirectional BMS-to-inverter communication, supporting functions including dynamic charge current adjustment, discharge cut-off voltage control, and BMS fault relay. All HV series batteries use the CAN port on the BCU module for inverter connection.
RS485 Protocol: Flexible for Multi-Battery Parallel & LV Systems
RS485 is widely supported by 48V-class inverters and is the standard protocol for low voltage LiFePO4 battery systems. In multi-battery parallel configurations, RS485-1 connects the host battery to the inverter, while RS485-2 manages internal communication between the host and up to 14 slave batteries. This architecture ensures stable BMS address control without interference from inverter communication traffic.
